Honors and Awards

The 2007 College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Senior Award in the Communication Department goes to David B. Spira. David Spira graduates summa cum laude with a double major in communication and history and a minor in political science. He is a member of the University Honors Program and has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Golden Key, Lambda Pi Eta, and Mortar Board honors societies. Spira engaged in undergraduate research at the university and in the community as an election researcher, as a research supervisor in disabilities communication at UB as well as a legal researcher in Rockland County District Attorney's office in New York City. He plans to attend graduate school in the field of communication in fall of 2008.

Students are also encouraged to try for the National Communication Association Student Undergraduate Research Award. Further information is available on the National Communication Association website.
