PhD Program Admissions
In selecting a University for graduate study, it is important to consider not only such hard facts as the number of credits which must be earned, but also the spirit and academic philosophy of the Department.
The Department places its highest priority on academic ability, including both breadth and specialization within one's chosen area of study. The program emphasizes quantitative research skills and encourages students to develop an individualized program.
Prospective students are encouraged to study the Graduate Handbook (PDF format) and then determine whether this may be a Department that will serve their aims.
A solid liberal arts education is the ideal preparation for admission into the program. Students from undergraduate, professional, and pre- professional programs are also welcome. Applicants for the MA Degree must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, and all applicants for the PhD degree must hold a Master of Arts or Master of Science degree from an accredited institution.
